Conclusion
This study demonstrates a simple and environmentally friendly approach to cooling and heating by utilizing the geothermal effect through existing building infrastructure. By integrating underground and rooftop water reservoirs with appropriately selected pipe materials, the system effectively exploits the Earth’s near-constant subsurface temperature to reduce heat gain and loss. The circulation of water between the UWR and RWR enables passive cooling during warm conditions and heat dissipation after indoor use, thereby minimizing dependence on conventional, energy-intensive HVAC systems. Overall, this model highlights the potential for improved energy efficiency, reduced environmental impact, and practical implementation in residential and commercial buildings, making geothermal-based cooling and heating a promising alternative for sustainable climate control.
